I chose to animate the entire poster. I made the words, masks and shapes come in from the sides or from down or up. To spice the poster up I also included a little “fight” between the masks and added a little bounce audio during that part.
Version 1 had a white screen in the beginning, I removed that because it took up too much time and I wanted to give the end result more time because that is the main part of the poster, it is also more readable. So I moved the entire video up by a second so that everything would be visible better. Another thing I changed from the first version was the rotating “Arte del Mar” words. I first of all changed the color to red because of the feedback where Chris said he thinks it would suit the bottom part of the screen more. The other thing I changed, also due to feedback which I agree with, was that instead of rotating and its opacity going from 0 to 100, I parented it to the “pendant” word and had it come in with the title. I also changed the entire bottom color words from black to white because of some more feedback from Chris because the black blends a little bit too much with the mask and now it's a bit more visible. On that topic I also fixed an error that the words “the met” when the masking revealed them, one could see a bit of the word underneath and as a perfectionist it bothered the living hell out of me. Finally I added audio for a second to make the fight seem a bit more alive in an animated way.
My poster before adding motion felt very formal and a simple advertisement that one would hand out on a flyer or make an instagram post of. With the animation it feels goofy in a way, especially with the audio and takes away the formality that it had. It also adds life to the poster and can make it be on the subway or a billboard as well.
For the sound I added a second of it and decided to keep the rest silent. I felt that putting in sound for the rest would be too much and that it could confuse the audience. Even the small one second sound I added, I changed many times as I felt it was too much but ended up keeping it in because I felt it suits that one second of goofiness during the fight and adds a layer to it in a good way.
